Sejong Mayor Proposes Festival Pairing Local Padak with German Beer

Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho asked officials to explore an annual food festival featuring the city’s signature 'padak' (green-onion topped fried chicken originating in Jochiwon in 1978) paired with beer from Stuttgart, Germany—a sister city. The mayor said such an event would boost the local economy, promote regional identity, and serve as city marketing. Sejong already supports long-running padak shops as representative neighborhood eateries. Collaboration with Stuttgart would bring German beer into the celebration, strengthening cultural and municipal ties.
