Gangwon Provincial Theater Opens Costume and Prop Warehouse as 'Open Stage Asset Platform'

Gangwon Provincial Theater will expand its free rental service of costumes and props to local theater groups by overhauling its warehouse operations. Since opening the storage in 2019, the theater has loaned more than 2,300 items through 100+ rentals, helping reduce stage production costs. The collection has been reorganized by historical period—ranging from royal court costumes (gungjung ui-sang) and traditional civilian dress (minbok) to modern outfits—and made accessible as an “open stage asset platform” to inspire local creators. Rentals are available free to private performing arts groups in the province and events hosted by national or local governments; applications are handled through the provincial theater’s operations office website.
