At the 10th Korean Musical Awards held at Seoul’s Sejong Center, two productions each won three trophies: the historical musical Hanbok Worn by a Man (won Grand Prize, arrangement/music director, and set design) and Ojige Jaemisseun Gashina-deul (won direction, script, and small-venue Best Production). Ojige Jaemisseun Gashina-deul (based on the real stories of grandmothers from Chilgok, North Gyeongsang, who learned and wrote in Korean) won in the under-400-seat category. Park Eun-tae and Jo Jung-eun tied for Best Actor and Best Actress for The Bridges of Madison County. The K-musical original Korean production Maybe Happy Ending, which earned six Tony Awards in its run, took Best Production for 400 seats and above. Newcomer awards went to Kang Byung-hoon (Bear the Musical) and Lee Sung-kyung (Aladdin), the latter known also for TV dramas and films. The awards, hosted by the Korean Musical Association, featured a record 102 entries this year; longtime music director Kim Moon-jung and host actor Lee Geon-myung received appreciation plaques.
