The 2026 Edaily New Year Concert at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa, Seoul drew about 2,000 attendees, featuring the young KG Philharmonic (KGPhil) under conductor Seo Hee-tae celebrating its first anniversary. The program blended classical favorites (polkas and waltzes), film music, art songs (gagok), and musical numbers, aiming to make classical music more approachable. Highlights included soprano performances of “Waltz of Spring” and the Korean art song “Beautiful Country,” comedic mime by Park Byung-chul during the “Hunting Polka,” and musical stars Min Woo-hyuk and Ivy performing solos and a stirring duet of “The Prayer.” The concert also invited firefighters and their families, reflecting KG’s philanthropic work through the Seonhyeon foundation supporting emergency service families. The evening closed with an encore of the “Imperial March” from Star Wars, leaving a warm, hopeful atmosphere for 2026.
