Immersive Theater Adventure ‘Dorothy of the Theater’ Returns for Encore Run

Gangdong Cultural Foundation’s immersive musical Dorothy of the Theater reopens for an encore from the 23rd to the 1st at Gangdong Art Center’s small Dream theater. Instead of sitting in the audience, attendees explore the theater with the protagonist Dorothy, moving through usually off-limits spaces like the box office, rehearsal rooms, makeup rooms, and stage corridors while listening to actors through wireless headsets. The participatory show aims to educate as well as entertain: visitors learn theater etiquette (e.g., arriving on time, turning off phones) and witness how a performance is built through collaboration and shared agreements. The premiere last November sold out all eight performances; the encore lowers the recommended age from 10 to 8 to welcome more families during winter break. Gangdong Cultural Foundation plans to continue programs that let audiences directly participate and learn about performing arts.
