7-Eleven Korea introduced the ‘Dubai-style Kadaif Ddungcaron’ (a plump macaron) following the success of its Kadaif chewy ball. The new dessert features kadaif noodles and dense pistachio cream filling inside a chocolate macaron shell made from 100% ground almond flour (no starch). The retailer hopes it will continue the momentum of recent premium dessert hits like the Dubai chewy cookie and fresh choco pie, which have driven dessert sales and search popularity on the 7-APP. 7-Eleven attributes this trend to ‘small luxury’ spending and ‘feel-economy’ (필코노미) behavior, where consumers seek affordable indulgence and emotional satisfaction through themed overseas-style treats during weak travel demand. The company plans more global and seasonal dessert releases targeting MZ generation tastes.
