GS25, a major convenience store chain in South Korea, launched three 200g single-serve marinated meat options priced at 4,900 KRW aimed at the growing 1-person household market: spicy pork stir-fry (jeyuk bokkeum), soy-marinated pork belly, and gochujang-marinated pork belly. The move responds to rising single households (from 27.2% in 2015 to 36.1% in 2024) and high living costs, offering affordable, portioned fresh meals for people who eat alone or live by themselves. The products will be sold at around 4,000 GS25 stores with a focus on stores emphasizing fresh foods, and a promotion gives small packaged lettuce wraps (ssam) with purchases through the end of the month. GS25 says it will keep expanding small-portion, value-oriented fresh foods to meet solo consumers’ needs.
