CJ CheilJedang has launched a 33-item special edition line in collaboration with chefs from the Netflix competition show ‘흑백요리사’ (The Black & White Chefs). Season 2 winner Choi Kang-rok helped develop five premium udon varieties—seaweed, kimchi and curry udon among them—using a deep katsuobushi (dried bonito) extract and noodles about 20% thicker for richer texture. Other participating chefs contributed recipes across Korean, Chinese and Japanese-inspired products: ready-made bibigo soups, kimchi, tteokbokki and instant rice bowls (햇반컵반, ready-to-eat cup rice) from Yoon Na-ra; premium Chinese dishes and mala (마라, spicy Sichuan chili-numbing) selections with Choi Yu-gang; and forthcoming sauces with Season 1 winner Kwon Seong-jun. CJ says the collaboration aims to bring popular dishes from the show to home cooks and extend its K-food brands globally after the show’s international success.
