A fellowship program by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra aims to train the next generation of conductors with the guidance of Jaap van Zweden, its music director. During the 3-day program, eight selected young conductors rehearse with the orchestra, receiving direct feedback and learning essential conducting skills from van Zweden, known for his direct and rigorous style. The program includes young talents like Choi Jae-hyuk, who compares the experience to learning soccer from Son Heung-min, a famous Korean footballer. The session emphasizes the importance of thorough musical understanding and the role of conductors in leading orchestras. Final selections will perform at a special concert, with one potentially becoming the associate conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic.
