The BBC Symphony Orchestra, a flagship UK ensemble founded in 1930 and known for leading the BBC Proms, will tour South Korea from March 24–28, marking its first visit since 2013. Led by chief conductor Sakari Oramo (Finnish) and featuring Korean pianist Son Yeol-eum, the five-city tour opens at Busan Concert Hall and continues to Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall (March 25–26), Daejeon Arts Center, and Seongnam Arts Center. Son, a prizewinner at the Van Cliburn and Tchaikovsky competitions, will perform works including Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Britten’s Piano Concerto in D (Op.13). The program reflects Oramo’s interest in balancing lesser-known contemporary works with classical repertoire.
