After K-pop group BTS announced world tour dates including Busan on June 12–13, a 3-star hotel that normally charges 30,000–90,000 won showed rooms listed at 680,000 and 880,000 won for those nights. Booking demand surged and many hotels, motels and guesthouses sold out quickly. Reports on online communities and social media say some accommodations cancelled existing reservations and raised prices, prompting accusations they were trying to resell rooms at higher rates. Operators argued the spike could be a system error, but industry insiders called some hikes inappropriate. Fans unable to find rooms have shared cost-saving alternatives, such as staying in nearby cities like Gimhae or Changwon and taking trains or buses, or sharing Airbnb rentals.
