The Korean Dance Critics Association has selected Kim Hwa-sook and the modern dance company Sapo’s piece “Dasi. Gani-yeok-eseo” (“Again. At the Small Station”) as the winner of the 2025 Dance Critics Award for Best Work. Performed last October at Seodo Station in Namwon, Jeonbuk, the piece used the neglected rural train stop as a living historical space, blending lyrical music with dance images that evoke hidden historical narratives. The association praised the production’s exceptional choreography and site-sensitive direction. Five other works were named Best Pieces, and three individuals received special awards. Now in its 29th year, the Dance Critics Award is the longest-running dance prize in Korea; the ceremony will be held on the 22nd in Daehangno, Seoul.
