K-Arts Traditional Arts Institute to Hold Lecture-Concert “Melodies of the East” at Shanghai Korean Cultural Center

The Traditional Arts Institute of Korea National University of Arts will present a lecture-concert titled “Melodies of the East: The Road to the Silk Road” on the 20th at the Shanghai Korean Cultural Center. The program, organized amid warming Korea-China ties following President Lee Jae-myung’s recent Shanghai visit, aims to deepen cultural exchange through a blend of explanatory talks and performances. Lectures include the institute director’s “Understanding Korean Court Dance” and a talk on arts education, paired with demonstrations of Korean court dance (gunggungmu, 궁중무용) and traditional music pieces such as saengsobyeongju (생소병주) and sanjo ensemble (산조합주). Performers—professors and students—will showcase high-level traditional performances to introduce Korean performing arts to Shanghai audiences and help build ongoing cooperation for a June youth exchange project in traditional performance arts.
