Korea Says Nuri Rocket Needs Frequent Launches to Be Competitive

South Korea’s space agencies say the Nuri launch vehicle must raise its success rate and lower costs to enter the global market. The Korea Space Agency (KSA) and Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) reported that Nuri’s current success rate is 75% after four launches. KSA chief Yoon Young-bin said overseas buyers expect at least a 90% success rate, so upcoming launches must keep succeeding. KARI director Lee Sang-chul added that commercial price competitiveness improves sharply if Nuri flies about four times a year, because higher cadence raises reliability and spreads fixed and recurring costs. Officials said more frequent launches would help build data, reduce unit costs, and sustain the domestic launch ecosystem.
