The BBC Symphony Orchestra, one of Britain’s leading ensembles and a regular at the BBC Proms (a major UK classical music festival), will tour South Korea in March with chief conductor Sakari Oramo and Korean pianist Sun Yeol‑eum. Founded in 1930 and resident at the Barbican Centre in London, the orchestra is known for programming both contemporary and traditional repertoire. Oramo, from Finland, is praised for clear structural and sonic interpretations and for refining the orchestra’s musical color. Pianist Sun Yeol‑eum is celebrated for analytical precision, delicate expression, and bold contrasts. The program includes piano concertos by Bartók and Britten, Sibelius’s Symphony No.2, and Brahms’s Symphony No.2, blending modern and classical works. Performances run March 24 in Busan, March 25–26 at Seoul Arts Center, March 27 in Daejeon, and March 28 at Seongnam Arts Center. Busan tickets go on general sale January 16; Seoul pre‑sales start January 21 and general sales January 22 via Seoul Arts Center, Busan Concert Hall, NOL Ticket, and Yes24.
