The BBC Symphony Orchestra will tour South Korea in March under chief conductor Sakari Oramo, featuring Korean pianist Sun Yea-lim. The tour begins at Busan Concert Hall on March 24 and continues with performances at Seoul Arts Center (March 25–26), Daejeon Arts Center (March 27) and Seongnam Arts Center (March 28). Founded in 1930 and based at London’s Barbican Centre, the BBC Symphony is known for performing at the BBC Proms (Proms) and championing contemporary composers as well as traditional repertoire. Finnish conductor Sakari Oramo, praised for clarity of structure and balance, leads the orchestra’s refined interpretations. Sun Yea-lim, noted for analytical insight and delicate expression, will perform Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Britten’s Piano Concerto in D with the orchestra.
