Incheon Airport plans temporary measures as Asiana Airlines shifts operations from Terminal 1 (T1) to Terminal 2 (T2) on January 14. Concerns over fewer T2 security screeners (880 vs. T1’s 1,150) led Incheon Airport Security Co. to coordinate with unions and assign 44 T1 security staff to support T2 during morning hours starting 05:00 on the 14th. The airport authority and the Ministry of Justice will also open departure gates one hour earlier temporarily. Workers warn that without permanent staffing increases, congestion is likely to continue, especially as other carriers (e.g., T’way, Parata, AirPremia) will fill some of T1’s capacity. Asiana handled about 5.5 million departing passengers last year (11 million total when including arrivals), and the terminal split is expected to shift from T1 63% / T2 37% to roughly T1 48.5% / T2 51.5%, marking the first time T2 will handle a larger share. Check-in and bag-drop procedures for Asiana at T2 will use G–J counters on the 3rd floor; business class and elite members use J counters. (Note: bag-drop is shown as BAG-DROP.)
