On January 23 at 7:30 p.m., the 2026 Gwangjin Cultural Foundation New Year Concert will be held at the Naru Arts Center main hall, led by world-renowned soprano Hwang Su-mi (39). The program, celebrating hope and renewal for the Year of the Fire Horse (병오년), features tenor Kim Yo-han, conductor Kim Kwang-hyun, and the Korea Coop Orchestra. The concert opens with Shostakovich’s Festival Overture, followed by Johann Strauss II waltzes including "The Blue Danube" and the "Emperor Waltz," as well as lighter polkas. Vocal highlights include arias and duets from Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet, Lehar’s operettas (The Merry Widow and Giuditta), and Puccini’s La Bohème, showcasing Hwang’s clear tone and expressive nuance alongside Kim’s robust tenor. Tickets and details are available on the Gwangjin Cultural Foundation website and NOL Tickets (formerly Interpark Ticket).
