Ocean Park, opened in 1977 on Hong Kong Island’s southern Wong Chuk Hang, is a one-stop seaside complex mixing zoo, aquarium, theme park and resorts across more than 91.5 ha (about 130 football fields). Operated as a nonprofit focused on marine conservation and education, the park’s two main zones—Waterfront and Summit—are linked by cable car and the Ocean Express funicular. Highlights include the twin giant pandas Zaza and Dodo (whose mother Ying Ying set a record as the world’s oldest first-time panda mother), over 200 marine species, up-close sea lion and seal encounters, and thrill rides like the Hair Raiser coaster (up to 88 km/h) and The Flash (360° spin, 3.9G). Visitors can also ride the 72 m Ocean Park Tower for panoramic views and stroll “Old Hong Kong,” a 1950s–1970s street recreation with local food stalls serving items like Hong Kong egg waffle and milk tea. Seasonal attractions include a Sanrio “Marine Wonders” collaboration (Hello Kitty and others) through August, plus on-site hotels for stay-and-play itineraries. Because the park spans so much area with about 80 attractions, many guests choose to stay overnight to fully experience it.
