Lotte Chilsung Beverage has stopped producing the original “2% 부족할 때” (2% Short) fruit-drink; production ended around September last year and it has been removed from major stores and online channels. The company says it has revamped the product into a zero-calorie version to give consumers the same peach flavor without the calorie burden. Fans reacted with nostalgia and disappointment, saying the taste is different and lamenting the original’s discontinuation. First launched in the late 1990s as a light, mildly fruit-juiced beverage, “2% 부족할 때” expanded from peach and lemon to grape and apple and became famous for memorable ad lines like “Don’t treat me like water!” and “Love is always thirsty.” (“2% 부족할 때” is a Korean beverage brand name.)
