Heavy Snow Falls at Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival

The 2026 Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, one of Korea’s major winter events, opened on January 10 in Hwacheon-eup, Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon Province. Large, fluffy snowflakes fell across the festival grounds along the Hwacheoncheon stream, creating a picturesque winter scene at the celebration of ice fishing (산천어, a local freshwater fish) and seasonal activities. The festival attracts visitors for outdoor ice events and traditional winter experiences.
