The Hakgojae gallery in Jongno, Seoul, presents Seong Hee-seung’s solo exhibition "Eternal Becoming" through Feb. 7, featuring about 17 paintings that emphasize process over finished products. Seong treats painting as an ongoing act of creation and movement, exploring layers of perception formed by repeated marks and accumulated time rather than literal representation. Early works used the circle (원) to suggest completion and infinity; later the artist shifted to triangles to evoke tension and generation, and now stars combine circle and triangle to express emergent, relational light—ungraspable yet influential. The repetitive brushstrokes and dots resemble prayer or meditation: spontaneous in appearance but guided by underlying order and rhythm. The works remain “in the becoming,” inviting viewers to inhabit time, memory, and sensation rather than witness a final conclusion. (Hakgojae: a contemporary art gallery in Seoul.)
