Severe subzero cold has sculpted dramatic ice cliffs that are drawing winter travelers across Korea. The layered, blue ice formations—reminiscent of the animation 'Frozen'—create a magical, peaceful atmosphere. The Korea Tourism Organization highlights four top ice-cliff spots: Stone Creek in Wonju, a large café with garden views of a curtain-like ice wall popular for drives from the Seoul area; Dalion in Uijeongbu, a bakery-café beside a frozen valley offering free sled rentals for families; Cheongsong Ice Valley (Ice Grotto), famed for its massive artificial ice wall used by climbers and best seen between 1–3 pm when sunlight reveals its brilliance; and the Biseulsan Natural Recreation Forest near Daegu, where naturally frozen cliffs in rugged mountain scenery feel like entering an “ice kingdom.” Each site offers striking photo opportunities and unique ways to experience winter’s stillness.
