In trendy Seongsu-dong, a beloved restaurant called 'Flavor Town' offers a colorful lineup of Asian-inspired dishes drawing on Chinese, Thai, Hong Kong, Singaporean and Southeast Asian influences. Chef Lee Tae-gyu, who trained in fine dining in Australia and worked in Chinese kitchens across Asia and Europe, blends global flavors into creative plates. Signature items include fried jokbal (족발) (Korean braised pig’s trotters) with a Thai-style glaze and coconut-sugar caramel; a lavish lobster curry combining Southeast Asian spices with clams; and a surprisingly meticulous stir-fried napa cabbage where sun-dried shiitake (표고버섯) are rehydrated and rendered for deep umami. The regularly listed menu has about 20 items, but the kitchen can prepare 40–50 off-menu dishes by request. Pastry chef Kim Jung-sook contributes popular desserts like strawberry coconut cake and yuzu-basil sorbet. (플레이버타운 is a popular local restaurant name.)
