Musinsa Opens 'Musinsa Kicks' Shoe Edit Shop in Hongdae, Taking on ABC Mart

Musinsa opened its first shoe-focused edit shop, Musinsa Kicks, near Hongdae Station in Seoul. The three-story, 1,124 m² store showcases about 80 brands including Nike, Adidas and Salomon, and features themed exhibition spaces like a ‘shoe wall’. Musinsa launched as a shoe photo community in 2001 and is expanding its retail presence after an 80% jump in online shoe sales last year. The move also responds to ABC Mart’s long-standing dominance (a Japanese shoe retailer) in Korea; ABC Mart reported strong sales and about 330 stores domestically. Musinsa plans additional openings in Gangnam and Seongsu in the first half of the year to become a landmark for shoe fans in Hongdae.
