Daesang announced that its Gunsan starch and sweetener plant in Jeonbuk has earned the new "Global HACCP" certification, a strengthened integrated food-safety management system introduced by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Global HACCP expands the existing HACCP mandatory checklist (80 items) with 72 additional items aligned to CODEX (Codex Alimentarius) and GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards, totaling 152 evaluation points. The certification covers both food and health-functional food lines at the facility, which produces starches, processed starch products, syrups, sugar-processed products including allulose (a sugar substitute), and digestion-resistant maltodextrin (brand name: Fibasol-2, Fibasol-2L). Daesang is the first in the starch-sweetener sector and the first in the health-functional food category to receive Global HACCP at its site. The company expects the certification to strengthen export competitiveness as Korea accelerates K-food global expansion; the government plans public–private efforts to seek international recognition of Global HACCP and to promote it to key export markets.
