Danyang Ranks No.2 in Korea Tourism Organization’s Most-Viewed Domestic Spots

Danyang County in North Chungcheong Province said it ranked second last year in popular searches on the Korea Tourism Organization’s domestic travel service ‘Korea Everycorner’ (대한민국 구석구석). Danyang, an inland area, was the only non-coastal or major-city locality among the top-ranked places, behind Busan. Officials credited this to its year-round attractions and events — including a winter play festival, the ‘Visit Danyang Year’ campaign, and completion of the Siru Island (시루섬) ecological walking bridge — and said they will keep strengthening tourism competitiveness across all seasons. Danyang also led the nation for three consecutive years in issuance of the digital tourism resident ID (디지털 관광주민증), which offers regional travel benefits when users select a base area during sign-up.
