2002-born pianist Kim Song-hyun has released her second album, TIMESCAPE, a 120-page book-album combining 12 piano pieces, 12 poems/prose pieces, and 12 photographs that follow the year from January to December. The title blends Time and Landscape to evoke the album’s concept of seasonal moods and variations. Repertoire arranged by Kim includes works by Sibelius, Schumann and Fred Hersch; her own photos and writings (also presented in English) accompany each month. The release was praised by pianist Yiruma and includes editorial advice from Korean writers Mok Jeong-won, Im Kyung-seon, and Lee Hwon. Kim, educated at Ye Won School, Seoul Arts High School and the New England Conservatory (now a master’s student), has won several international prizes and is a finalist for the 2024 Busoni and a competitor in the 2024 Rubinstein International Piano Competition (final 42 of ~500). A release recital is set for March 16 at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul. (book-album: a physical music release packaged with a substantial book of texts and images)
