The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization highlighted several long-established eateries across Gyeonggi Province that have endured changing times. Featured spots include: Chef Burangje bakery in Gimpo, known for about 100 kinds of bread like rice red-bean buns and pecan “Alligator” pastries; Honam Sundae in Suwon’s Jidong Market, a 40-year-old stall famous for sundae (Korean blood sausage) and sundae-guk (soup), now popular for stir-fried sundae and gopchang; Deokseongwon in Paju, a Chinese restaurant operating since 1954 near Geumchon Station with vintage photos preserving local memories; Ijo Kalguksu in Ansan, serving three-colored handmade noodles and seafood broth, plus red-bean kalguksu and porridge; Sagak Haneul in Yangpyeong, a secluded hanok-style restaurant offering sukiyaki prepared in Japanese style by a Korean–Japanese couple; and Jangheung Hoegwan in Icheon, a hotpot specialty restaurant known for nakgop-jeongol (octopus and tripe hotpot) and cha-nakgop-jeongol (with added beef brisket). These “nopo” (노포, long-standing traditional shops) reflect family-run traditions, regional flavors, and culinary history worth visiting.
