The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has launched the ‘2026 Tourism Plus Tech’ program to find technology companies that can reshape the tourism industry. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with prior participation in national R&D projects are eligible to apply until January 26. The program seeks firms using AI to improve customer experience, smart mobility and transportation solutions, fintech to enhance travel convenience and payments, and sustainable tourism projects supporting ESG and regional cooperation. Seven companies will be selected and can receive up to 400 million KRW over two years plus business model consulting and open innovation opportunities with larger firms. An online briefing will be held January 14; details are on the Korea tourism portal “TourRaz” (Korean tourism industry portal). KTO says the initiative aims to help tech firms commercialize tourism solutions and boost industry-wide innovation and competitiveness.
