The 18th 'Performing Arts Creation Center: New Works of the Year' unveiled its January lineup, showcasing 8 early works from a festival that runs through March with 34 pieces across 6 genres. Highlights include Human Stance’s 'INTIME' — a contemporary Korean dance (Korean dance) piece exploring time, loss and reconnection with a 10-dancer ensemble and performers from the Mnet survival show 'Stage Fighter'; 'Ssanghyangsu,' a gugak (traditional Korean music) fantasy based on an 800-year-old folktale about a teacher-student relationship and reconciliation; and Gumi Opera’s new opera '2.28,' revisiting the 1960 Daegu student democracy movement. The season also features a James Dean–inspired musical 'James Byron Dean' reflecting on the actor’s final five minutes, family-friendly musical 'Blue Lion Wanini', plays like 'POOL' and experimental works using VR and first-person game formats. The program emphasizes contemporaneity, diversity, excellence and experimentation, connecting traditional forms with modern expression across music, dance, theater and opera.
