Late Actor Ahn Sung-ki and 38-Year Partnership with Dongseo Foods Remembered

Dongseo Foods (Dongsuh Foods) expressed gratitude and mourning following the death of beloved actor Ahn Sung-ki at 74. Ahn served as the long-standing face of the company’s Maxim coffee brand from 1983 to 2021 — a 38-year partnership credited with helping cement Maxim as a household coffee brand in Korea. Iconic ad lines he delivered, such as “I want to drink with someone warm-hearted” and “Coffee, now a scent,” linger in public memory. Ahn collapsed at home after choking on food on Dec. 30, received CPR, and was later pronounced dead after failing to regain consciousness. He had previously battled blood cancer, briefly achieved remission in 2020, but experienced a recurrence. His funeral services are being held at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital and will be conducted as a film-industry funeral sponsored by the Shin Young-kyun Arts & Culture Foundation and the Korean Film Actors Association; a public condolence space is open at the Seoul Film Center until the evening of the 8th.
