Chungnamdae Monorail to Open in March, Improving Visitor Access

Chungbuk Province announced the monorail at Chungnamdae (a presidential villa-turned-public park) in Cheongju will open in March. The 330-meter, two-car system (40 seats total) connects the old maintenance shed and the first observatory and is 95% complete after a 5.43 billion won project. Officials plan 40 hours of test runs, safety inspection by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and local permits before a late-March opening. The monorail is expected to greatly improve access and viewing convenience for seniors, pregnant visitors, people with disabilities, and children, allowing visitors to enjoy spring views of Chungnamdae and Daecheong Lake (Daecheongho).
