Booking.com’s 2026 Travel Predictions, based on a survey of over 29,000 travelers across 33 regions, named Australia’s Port Douglas as one of the Top 10 Trending Travel Destinations. The small coastal town in Queensland, about an hour north of Cairns, was recognized for offering quiet, eco-friendly getaways that emphasize immersive nature experiences, authentic cultural connections and emotional well-being. Visitors can explore nearby UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, enjoy sailing to remote sand cays, snorkel with sea turtles, and join guided walks with Kuku Yalanji (an Indigenous group) guides for traditional cultural insights. Other destinations on the list include Bilbao (Spain), Manaus (Brazil) and Mui Ne (Vietnam).
