Three long-term foreign residents in Korea—Daniel Lindemann (Germany), Alberto Mondi (Italy), and Lucky (India)—say Korea’s tourism in 2026 looks very different. Nationalities and age groups are diversifying: Europeans now visit as honeymooners, and foreign visitors are blending into everyday neighborhoods rather than just sightseeing landmarks. Lucky notes India sent about 200,000 tourists last year, with roughly 40,000 arriving in April to see the cherry blossoms (벚꽃). He also cites Korea’s mountainous terrain and four seasons as attractions for Indians who can’t easily access nearby high mountains. The trio argue that while K-pop and K-dramas open the door, sustainable growth needs more personalized offerings: tailored packages by nationality, improved foreign-language translations on official sites, better local bus and card-payment convenience outside Seoul, and niche experiences in off-peak seasons. They stress small service details will determine quality growth beyond headline visitor numbers.
