The World Challenged by Her Brush: Musical 'Rempicka' Teaser Released

A teaser for the musical 'Rempicka' — based on Tamara de Lempicka, the Art Deco painter often called the 'Queen of Art Deco' — has been released ahead of its March premiere in Seoul. The short film uses the artist's iconic paintings as backdrops and actors' movements to evoke her dramatic life, highlighting her defiant artistic style against prejudice. The story follows Lempicka's survival and choices through the upheavals of the Russian Revolution and world wars. Director Rachel Chavkin (known for Hadestown) traveled to Korea to rehearse the premiere with co-director Kim Tae-hoon. Performances run March 21–June 21 at the NOL Theatre COEX in Seoul.
