Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province has declared 2026 as “Visit Geochang Year,” aiming to bring 10 million visitors annually. Under the vision “a four-season healing destination,” the county identified 42 linked projects and is expanding tourism stages to include neighborhood alleys and campsites. A new ordinance establishes legal support and a public–private steering committee to plan, review and sustain efforts beyond 2026. Key programs include a Golden Apple stamp tour, moonlit night walks, a “good” camping project, a “100,000 won happiness” promotion, and expanded “Check-in Geochang” campaigns, supported by multifaceted promotion like ballpark ads and home shopping. The county created a Tourism Promotion Division last year to shift tourism from one-off festivals to strategic planning; big-data analysis showed visitor increases and higher spending, with notable growth at signature sites including the “Geochang 9 Sights” and the Changpo Garden. The county aims to position Geochang as a national wellness tourism city offering healing value to visitors. (Changpo Garden: a local botanical/garden attraction)
