KCA Civic Orchestra (Korea Classic Association) will hold its inaugural concert on Jan. 17 at Yeongsan Art Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The community orchestra, formed by classical-music-loving citizens, aims to share emotion and grow together. Conductor/trumpeter Kim Pan-ju leads the program with concertmaster violinist Kang Min-song; soloists include violinist Lim Seong-yun and tenor Kim Ki-seon, and a special appearance by KCA Youth Choir (children’s choir). Works include the Overture and arias from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Saint-Saëns’ “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso,” and the Korean art song “First Love.” Mezzo-soprano Hwang Hyun-hee returns to Korea for a solo recital on Jan. 20 at the same venue. A graduate of Kookmin University, she has performed extensively with municipal choirs and opera companies, studied at the Rome Academy and the Boulogne Conservatory in France, and has an international opera and orchestral career centered in France. Since returning in 2025 she began domestic activities with the Gwangju City Opera as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro. Her recital with pianist Kim Ji-yeon features arias and songs by Purcell, Mozart, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, and Saint-Saëns. (KCA: Korea Classic Association; Yeongsan Art Hall: concert venue)
