Malaysia officially launched 'Visit Malaysia 2026' on January 1 with large welcome events for foreign visitors at 55 entry points including Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Tourism, arts and culture Minister YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing personally greeted travelers and described the year as a national movement showcasing solidarity, hospitality and cultural diversity. State governments, airlines, airport operators and tourism businesses collaborated to offer vouchers, food and beverage samples, souvenirs and attraction discounts. Live performances blending traditional and contemporary Malaysian culture, busking and mascot appearances by ‘Wira’ and ‘Manja’ energized the events. The Malaysian Tourism Office in Seoul also held a farewell event at Incheon Airport on December 31 for AirAsia flight D7507, giving passengers commemorative gifts for their arrival in Malaysia on New Year’s Day. Over 300 events and festivals are planned for 2026, including Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Muslim festival), Lunar New Year, Deepavali, Tadau Kaamatan and Gawai Dayak (regional harvest festivals). Malaysia aims to attract 47 million international visitors in 2026, up from 38.3 million in 2025.
