Artist Kim Jeong-hyun presents a solo exhibition 'Gazing' from January 13–18 at Suseong Artpia (Suseong Artpia is a local art center). The show traces her 40-year career across five sections: early works before her first solo show, printworks inspired by clay, pieces exploring new media and materials from graduate studies, works reflecting changes after doctoral study, and collaborative media-art with her daughter. Kim has worked between figurative and non-figurative styles in painting and printmaking and recently experimented with media art alongside her daughter. The exhibition highlights the value of repetitive labor and process in her practice and illuminates her life as a woman, mother of two, educator, and artist. Kim studied at Daegu Catholic University, earned an MA from Keimyung University and a PhD from Daegu University, and has held exhibitions in Daegu, Seoul, and New York since her first solo show in 1997.
