A group show titled 'Juseum-Juseum, Omil-Jomil' at Geumsan Gallery in Seoul (open through Jan 16) presents everyday ceramics that blur the line between utilitarian tableware and sculptural art. Five artists—Jung Gil-young, Kim Seong-cheon, Kim Nam-sook, Kim Do-yeon, and Bin Seong-eun—exhibit works ranging from two-person dinner sets and coffee drippers to ceramic chairs and whimsical figurines. Jung’s narrative tableware features playful painted scenes and sturdy glazed ceramic chairs; Kim’s pieces use humor and character forms; Kim Nam-sook draws on Jeju’s pebble (mongdol) textures; Kim Do-yeon emphasizes intuitive shapes and color; Bin’s recurring lip-faced character “Kkordon” (a signature character) explores gender fluidity and desire. The exhibition title evokes both the domestic act of pulling dishes from a cupboard and the tactile process of gathering and shaping clay, inviting visitors to reconsider ceramics as objects of use, memory, and visual thought.
