A popular Korean YouTuber known for ingredient-cost analyses recreated Shilla Hotel’s signature 'White Holiday' cake with a master pastry chef and estimated the raw ingredient cost at ₩30,888 for a cake sold at ₩180,000. The tree-shaped cake has layers of white and chocolate sponge, fresh cream (6754 won), ganache base (10,489 won), eight strawberries (5,596 won), syrups and decorations; the total ingredient cost was calculated as 30,888 won, implying a cost ratio of about 17.1%. Viewers were divided—some said the revealed cost made the luxury price hard to justify, while others noted that labor, craftsmanship, recipe development, packaging, and brand value justify higher prices.
