Korean fast-food brands launched bold seasonal items and anniversary releases. No Brand Burger introduced two winter-limited “Ghost Pepper” burgers using the world’s hottest pepper (ghost pepper, or Bhut Jolokia) — a Ghost Pepper Salsa Double Burger with double patties, hashbrown, cheese, pickles, lettuce and onion, and a Ghost Pepper Salsa Chicken Burger with a crispy chicken breast patty. Prices range from 5,400–9,500 KRW depending on item and set; promotions include an SNS review giveaway and free set-up via the app through early January. Other food news: chef Woo Jeong-wook published a recipe book celebrating 10 years of his brand Superpan with home-style Korean side dish recipes; Domino’s released four “Double Crust LA Cheese-pole Galbi Steak” pizzas featuring a chipotle-cheese (cheese-pole) sauce and shrimp or steak pairings with a 2,000 KRW upcharge for double crust; convenience store CU launched four carrot-themed New Year ready-meals (reflecting the Year of the Red Horse) such as carrot gimbap and sandwiches; and Won Halmeoni Bossam Jokbal refreshed its flagship Seoul location for its 50th anniversary, adding modernized interiors, digital ordering, local-sourced ingredients and expanded traditional alcohol offerings. These items highlight Korea’s trend of limited seasonal menus, nostalgic home-cooking tie-ins, and experiential restaurant renovations.
