KCDF Gallery Hosts Glass Artist Choi Sang-jun Solo Exhibition 'Beard and Hat'

Choi Sang-jun, a glass artist selected in the 2025 KCDF Craft & Design Competition (emerging category), presents a solo show 'Beard and Hat' at KCDF Gallery in Insadong through January 18, 2026. The artist explores identity using glass; his signature 'Beardman series' features rounded figures covered in beard-like textures topped with various hats, visualizing dualities like openness/closure and flexibility/fixity through a 'hap (合)' box-like structure. Works are made with techniques such as glass blowing (blowing), cold working (cold working), cane (cane) patterning, and sandblasting (sandblasting) to shape forms, engrave facial expressions, add striped patterns to hats, and finish surfaces for visual warmth and tactile intimacy. Jeon Ju-hee, head of the Craft Promotion Division at the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, noted the pieces reflect the artist’s self-reflection and identity-building. Admission is free.
