K-Musical Producer Celebrates 'Gatsby' 700 Broadway Shows, Plans 72-Week North American Tour

Shin Choon-soo, founder of OD (Open The Door) Company, celebrated his musical The Great Gatsby reaching 700 performances on Broadway — nearly two years, a key success benchmark. The production won accolades (including a Tony-related costume award and Drama Desk stage design) and will launch a 72-week North American tour starting February, with plans for a Korean-language run by 2027. OD Company, marking its 25th anniversary next year, will also stage new original musicals such as Wuthering Heights (based on Emily Brontë’s novel) and develop more original works and adaptations. Shin said he aims for OD to become synonymous with Korean theatre globally — “like Samsung for semiconductors” — and to build a company that lasts beyond his own tenure.
