Seoul City Hall is hosting a media art exhibition, 'Haeira: Memories of the Abyss,' from January 1 to March 31 in the Seoulrim (Seoul Forest) media wall located in the main building lobby. The solo show by artist Kim Bo-seul imagines a post-climate-crisis deep sea city called Haeira to explore possibilities of life and coexistence after destruction. The installation progresses from blue landscapes down into the deep sea, mixing remnants of nature, traces of civilization, and fragments of memory to present the ocean as a site of both ruin and recovery. Visitors can view media wall screenings and access an augmented reality (AR) mode by scanning the screen to experience layered virtual deep-sea scenes. Seoul officials say turning the city hall lobby into a cultural space aims to make art more accessible to all citizens.
