Seoul will display media art 'Heira: Memory of the Abyss' at the 'Seoullim' media wall in the main lobby of City Hall from January 1–31. The solo exhibition by media artist Kim Bo-seul explores organic connections between humans, nature, life and environment through East Asian philosophy. 'Heira' is a fictional deep-sea city symbolizing a post-climate-crisis ocean and a reorganized habitat of coexistence. The show has two loops: a ~7-minute piece 'Heira — Reborn Sea' and a ~3-minute piece 'Heira — Echoes of Memory.' Visitors experience the work on the large media wall combined with augmented reality (AR); scanning the screen launches AR layers that overlay the display. Kim Bo-seul is an associate professor in digital art at Seoul Arts College and serves as Korea director for the global art-tech platform 'CultureHub' (컬쳐허브). The city created the 'Seoullim' media wall during a lobby remodel last April to provide a public media exhibition platform alongside features like a vertical garden and robot cafe, aiming to expand cultural access and opportunities for young and emerging artists.
