Master pansori and folk singer Kim Young-im will present her signature 'Kim Young-im Sori Hyo (孝) Concert' on February 17 at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul. Held annually around the Lunar New Year (구정), the show — long celebrated as a meaningful gift to parents — bridges generations with traditional gugak (Korean traditional music) presented in refreshed, contemporary arrangements. The program includes her classic 'Hoesimgok' and folk pieces such as 'Nananı,' 'Chulga,' 'Han Obaek Nyeon,' 'Baetnorae,' and 'Arirang.' Debuting in 1974 with a complete recording of 'Hoesimgok,' Kim is a designated holder/teacher of Gyeonggi minyo (경기민요, Gyeonggi folk songs) as Important Intangible Cultural Property No.57 and has developed 'hyo' (孝, filial piety) themed performances combining song, dance, and music. Rising star and trot singer Shin Seung-tae will appear as a guest.
