The National Contemporary Dance Company (국립현대무용단) announced its 2026 season featuring diverse programs to broaden contemporary dance audiences. Highlights include an April double bill by dancers-turned-choreographers Jung Rok-yi and Jung Jae-woo—'Mustang' and 'Gaekkum' (a title exploring emotions beyond language)—and a new children’s dance by Lee Jae-young, 'Jelly Dinner' (젤리디너), in May that tells a playful story about taking detours. In June, Kim Bo-ra’s 'What I Saw in the Water' examines assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and the body. A revival of William Forsythe’s signature work One Flat Thing, Reproduced returns in October in a triple bill with Lee Jae-young’s 'Mechanism' and Jeong Cheol-in’s 'Unprotected'. The season closes in December with performances by the company’s young trainees supported by a national youth training program. Additional initiatives include a dance×technology lab, regional choreography projects ('Choreo Connection'), a platform for local choreographers ('Jungle'), a children’s series ('Yap! Yap! Yap!'), dance films on the online platform 'Dance On Air', and outreach programs like 'Visiting Contemporary Dance' and community education at the Dance House.
