Artist Sim Seon-nam’s eighth solo exhibition, "Gangwon, Nature and Me," runs through the 31st on the second floor of Chuncheon Museum. The show presents 21 paintings, including large 100-ho works, and highlights the artist’s decade-long focus on hanji (traditional Korean paper). Sim builds identity as a process, layering hanji on plywood, drying and scraping it to reveal textures and traces of color. With a background in psychology and art therapy, Sim emphasizes blue and green palettes to suggest trust, stability and recovery. Vertical, forest-like lines and the silhouettes of the Gangwon mountain range blur between representation and abstraction, merging natural structures with personal and regional memory formed over the artist’s life between Chuncheon, Gangneung, Donghae and Seoul.
